Phew... February already!

It's been quiet here at my little corner on the world wide web ;)
Busy...
Working more hours in the office & being caught by the flu didn't leave me with much time
to spend here... unfortunately!

However, I did have time to bake a chocolate-pear cake AND I did meet Lynda again for cappuccinos and a chat :)

She gave me these double French tulips.
Aren't they just beautiful?

Hope you're all, again, prepared for the cold AND for the Carnival??!!
I'm looking forward to a long weekend in Paris...

Have a nice week!

Snow and a pinkish touch

Am I glad that I planted the bulbs last week.
And those little hints of spring from last Monday?
I hope they will survive the 'truckloads' of snow that have been falling lately, because this is what it looks like outside since Tuesday:

A winter wonderland!!

Last weekend I wanted to bake something but didn't want to spend too much time in the kitchen.
Surfing the net, I found these oreos on the blog of Fraulein Klein
Shop bought oreos and a homemade filling, I added a bit of pink food colouring too as we had some guests who would appreciate a pinkish touch :)
You can find the recipe here

They disappeared in no time...

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend filled with sunshine & snow...
... & some skating maybe?

Little hints of Spring?

Last week, when the sun was finally shining again, I planted the bulbs that had been waiting in the garage since last October...
Beautiful bulbs that I ordered during my visit of the Keukenhof. I'd forgotten all about them, untill they arrived in the mail mid October. Didn't make time to plant them then, so now there wasn't an excuse anymore as I wanted them in the ground before the frost would arrive.
In the meanwhile I looked around and saw some signs of Spring:

I really hope they will survive the predicted snow and cold the coming days...

Have a nice week & enjoy the snow!

Salzburg

During last weeks' ski holiday in Austria, I decided to take a day off of skiing and visit Salzburg. The weather forecasts for the pistes weren't that good for my level of skiing (...), so I thought that wandering around a beautiful city & do some shopping would be a time much better spent!

I never visited Salzburg before, so I was curious what this ancient city where Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born, would look like. Being listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, my expectations were high!

Salzburg didn't disappoint me at all. Beautiful old but well-maintained buildings, very modern but also more conservative restaurants & shops.

Hereunder you can see some snapshots of the city:

And look what an adorable shop I found: easter eggs all over the place,
one even more beautifully decorated than the other.
Of course I couldn't go out empty-handed!

I hope you liked this short visit to Salzburg.
And as (meteorological) Spring has started already, I won't bother you with
snow pictures of Austria ;)

Even my banner got the Spring touch already!!

And it got even prettier...

After a thin layer of snow in the beginning of the week, winter really showed its best by the end of the week!
We got a pretty big quantity of snow on Friday afternoon as you can see:

The next day I was searching for my car...
And this afternoon we went out for a walk in the forest:

Temperatures remain below zero the next week (also during the day), so...
the Elfstedentocht is coming closer!
Please don't forget to keep your fingers crossed, it helped so far...

Have a great, sunny, cool week!!

Pretty winter

Hello Winter!
You finally arrived!!

 And how pretty you are!

We are all enjoying a bit of snow as you can see!
Freezing cold it is, but with the sunshine & blue skies during the day, it is sooo pretty!
So Winter, will you stay just a little bit longer??
It would be nice to have a Elfstedentocht again!
The last time we could enjoy this spectaculair event was in 1997,
about time, don't you think??

Will you all keep your (frozen) fingers crossed please??

Can't wait...

To be honest? I'm longing for days like these...
Exactly like these: fresh, crackling snow, beautiful blue skies & gorgeous sunshine!

And I'm sure Senna is dreaming about it too!

How 'bout you?
Are you looking forward to a snowy, cold season,
lighting the fireplace & lots of candles?
Preparing hot chocolate or mulled wine, roasting marshmellows,
making tasteful soups & stews,
reading the books you didn't have time for during the summer months,
sitting on the couch, covered up in warm blankets and plaids...
I'm curious to know what you're looking forward to!

Wishing you a lovely weekend & sweet dreams about the upcoming season!
